Tonights Procrastinations

8:35 PM - Mommy I got blue on the sheets from my candy ring ... I need them to be crisp and clean to sleep
Mommy's response: I'll clean them later - go lay down
Schuyler: I wanna take my stickers upstairs

9:02 PM - Mommy I finished my ring I need the trash
Comes downstairs to throw away plastic ring part
Mommy: OK you need to go brush your teeth and wash your face - Daddy will come help you
Schuyler: I wanna take up my monkey backpack

They go upstairs to brush her teeth and wash her face ... during this time she falls off her pink step stool ... she is alright ... goes back into bedroom

9:28 PM - Mommy my back ... my back
Mommy: If your back hurts you need to go lay down that is the best for it
Schuyler: (now downstairs) No mommy I need it scratched ...
Mommy proceedes to scratch her back ... and tells her to go back up and get in bed
Schuyler: I wanna take my book up (Gets an Elmo book)

9:56 PM - I fell off the stool mommy ... my hands hurt
Mommy: You mean when you fell off the stool while brushing your teeth?
Schuyler: (while coming down the stairs) Yes mommy ... daddy kiss it and make it better but my hands hurt
Mommy kisses hands and tells her to go back upstairs
Schuyler: I'm gonna take my ball up

10:18 PM - Asleep

Of course the night I decide to record what she does she actually falls asleep early ... yes right now 10:18 is early for her ...

Pee Pee on the Potty

So Schuyler is in love with Dum Dum lollipops ... she used to get them for cleaning up or helping in other ways ... but I have stopped that and she only gets them now when she goes pee pee on the potty ... today she has asked to go 3 times already ... we even made up a new pee pee on the potty song that she has been singing all day long ...

With the new bathroom comes lots of room ... so many toys have migrated up there ... her little case with all her lip balms ... a cabbage patch doll and the little dogs and cats from her doll house even go up there to play ...

Today during one of the times on the potty she was holding her dog and cat ... I asked her to be careful that they didn't fall in ... she said, "Oh mommy they wouldn't fit ... see!!" ... she held up the dog at the space at the front of her kiddie seat to show me it didn't fit ...

She started singing her pee pee in the potty song and swinging her arms back and forth when I suddenly heard a "plop" ... and saw a look of shock on her face ... she said, "Uh oh mommy it does fit" and jumped off the toilet ...

There in the bottom of the toilet this is what I saw

Schuyler proclaimed, "Poor doggie ... get him mommy ... he doesn't like it in there."

Lets just say this was one time mommy was happy there had been no pee pee in the potty yet ...

Laughing When You Shouldn't

My little Curly Top is amazing at procrastinating sleep ... especially since we are all sleeping in our bedroom right now because she doesn't go to sleep till way late ... we are all on a weird schedule ... she still has to head to bed at her normal time but she is allowed to watch movies and she comes to the top of the stairs over and over with new reasons she needs to not be in bed ...

You've seen some of them ... the pull-ups outfits ... the make-up extravaganza ... tonight it was stickers and I unfortunately didn't get it on video but I did get a photo the first time she came down with stickers on her face ...

She was acting like a clown and loved that we thought it was so funny ... they weren't stuck on very hard but they didn't feel too good when she took them off ...

Not even an hour later she was at the top of the stairs again with more stickers on her face and cracking up ... of course David and I were laughing pretty hard as well ... we were frazzled that no one in the house wanted to sleep but us ... and it was just so funny ... but then a split second later there was a wail coming out of her that I couldn't believe ... apparently she realized she stuck them on too hard and they hurt ... and they hurt bad ... unfortunately David and I were still giggling ...

I tried to sooth her but she didn't want me to take them off and she wanted me to get them off at the same time ... I asked her, "Sweetie didn't they hurt the last time we took them off?" and she exclaimed YES ... and I said, "Then why did you put more on?" ... and she said, "ooowwwwww I don't know but it was funny." ... how do you not laugh at that ...

Eventually I got all the stickers off and after a good cry she said she was never putting them on her face again ...

So she went back upstairs and covered her nightgown in them ...

Finally Published

I've had so many partial posts in draft form waiting for photos or more info ... and last night I finally decided to not do work for other people and finish up my own stuff ... and it sure feels good to get them done ... I didn't quite realize it was an entire month of posts ...

So now I am up to date ... basically ... except for some non photo posts that I need to finish I am all set and so happy about it ...

4 Week Comparison

David and I really thought that Skye and Linc were almost mirror images of each other as babies ... they both have the same angel kiss on their right eye ... they both have adorable dimples on their shoulders that we have no idea where they got that ... and they just look so much the same ...

Until I compared their 4 week photos ... we have been sitting here looking at them and they aren't as the same as either of us thought they were ... even when I pulled out their newborn photos they were more different than my memory served ... funny how that is ...

Schuyler

Lincoln

4 Weeks

Well our newest little one is starting to sleep a little more at night ... smiles when his sister is around ... loves getting kisses ... and is so good when we go out ... he just goes with the flow ...

Congratulations Cookie

Schuyler got a congratulations big sister cookie bouquet the day I came home from the hospital and they have been sitting on the counter all this time ... today we finally broke into the bouquet and it was quite exciting ... Skye thought it was awesome that a cookie was on a stick like a lollipop ... that it was so delicious and of course that it was so big ...

And she shared it with mommy ...

Shattered

So we lost our patio table last night ... even worse all the seedlings David and Skye had been working on for weeks got destroyed ...

Odd thing is there were only two 2 hour periods where someone wasn't awake ... and the patio is right outside the window I sit next too ... and heard nothing ... which means it broke during one of those 2 hour periods ...

And for the life of me I can't figure out how it happened ... we found nothing that could have been thrown on the table to break it ...

David had seen a huge fox in the backyard earlier in the evening ... so maybe an animal jumped on the table to eat some of the stuff growing ... but who knows ... I will say I would have loved to see the look on the animal's face as the table crashed down had it been an animal ...

So Tiny And Cute

For right now these photos capture the love they have for each other ... Lincoln is instantly calm when Skye is near ... and especially when she is holding him ... and Skye is so proud when she gets to help and hold Linc ... I know one day they will fight like cats and dogs ... just like my brother and I did ... but for right now they truly love each other ...

And every time Linc is put into Skye's arms she is just a doll saying, "Oh he is so tiny and cute." ... She has no idea how cute they both are ...

Pizza Pie

In continuing with our - cooking is good mommy and daddy alone time for Skye - we made our own pizzas tonight ... and it was awesome ...

Skye had a blast making mine and hers ... although she was a bit disappointed they had to go into the oven ... but that quickly washed away when we got to eat them ... she went on and on about how delicious the pizza was ... and she was right ... this will for sure be something we do much more often ... so glad Skye asked if it was something we could do ...

Brand New Bathroom

Today was Skye's first bath in the new bathroom ... and boy was it fun ...

Even though she loves to show off her new bathroom to anyone who comes into the house (including mommy and daddy) she was a little hesitant to take a bath in there ... she still wanted to go downstairs to the guest bathroom ... but once I brought up all the toys and shampoo and whatnot it was a lot easier ...

The bathroom is fantastic ... so big I didn't knock anyone over ... there is room for a bouncy chair so Lincoln got to hang out with us ... and eventually I think I am going to get a nice stool or something for me to sit on during bath time ...

She absolutely loved her new bath tub and all the space to play ... I'll say I enjoyed bath time so much more than I ever have ...

Delicious

The Easter Bunny left a couple of candy rings for Schuyler so today we decided it was time to break those out and have a treat ... now as a kid I thought candy rings were AWESOME ... so delicious ... just loved them ... so I figured Skye would love them too ... I mean it is candy that you wear ...

Well I was right ... she LOVED hers and ate the entire thing ... I on the other hand thought it was soooooooo gross ... I took only a couple of licks and couldn't have any more ... it did not bring back the childhood memories I thought it would but I got to relive my childhood love of candy rings through the excitement of Skye ...

The Easter Bunny had a very Hello Kitty themed day today ... and boy did that make the little recipient very happy ... besides getting candy first thing in the morning she gotta a Kitty basket and Kitty socks ... and even a pair of Kitty tights ... plus little Kitty containers filled with candy and change for her bank ... it was a great morning ...

Krispie Sprinkles

So there has been a commercial on where a mom and her girls make egg shaped Rice Krispie treats dipped in chocolate and sprinkles ... and they just looked so delicious so I figured it would be a great big sister project to do for Easter ... a perfect activity while the little one was sleeping ...

And I was right ... Skye LOVED making them ... she loves chocolate and sprinkles ... and it turns out even though at first she thought the Rice Krispie treats were weird she quickly learned they were delicious ...

The three of us had a great time making them ... I think she might have the same love of cooking that her daddy has ... she is going to have an amazing teacher in the kitchen ... and it turns out it is great mommy and daddy time in the kitchen ... great for everyone ...

Pride

Every night Skye asks if she can "hold him" ... and every time she says, "Oh he is so cute and tiny. I just love him" ... she is so proud to be a big sister ... and is just so in love with him ... they are lucky to have each other ...

Catching Up

So we have been home for 6 days now ... and although we are in a routine I am exhausted ...

Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday morning I had to wake Lincoln up every 3 hours to eat ... to keep his blood sugar up and his biliruben down ... it was brutal ... I would wake him up at 3 ... he would eat for an hour or sometimes longer ... then I would lay him down and it would take a little bit to get back to sleep ... by the time I laid down my alarm went off an hour later ... it was very rough ...

We saw the ped on Monday and he said I could start going 4 hours ... and I decided he wasn't eating much after an hour so if I started feeding him at 3 ... by 4 we were finished so I got 2 to 3 hours of sleep at a time ... then the last two nights he has decided he doesn't really want to sleep so much at night ... well not really that ... but he has a sixth sense for when I lay down and cries ... I get up ... pat him ... give him a binky ... lay back down and he cries again ... just not sure about that ... twice now I have just brought him to bed with me so I can get an hour or two of sleep ... since I am still sleeping propped up I can't turn over or anything so it works out well ...

Schuyler is fully in love with her brother ... she has proclaimed him her best friend ... she constantly thanks me for her baby ... she wants to help feed and change him ... in the morning she runs to the pack-n-play to check on him ... it is just great ... I hope she can keep up these feelings when he is able to touch her stuff ... and any time she asks to go somewhere or for some sort of snack she says Lincoln needs one too ... I'm just so proud of her ...

And David just got home so that means mommy is off to take a nap ... WOOOOHOOOOOO

First Bath At Home

There was a bit of screaming and some high flying pee with the first bath at home ... but everyone survived and Skye was a fantastic helper ...

My Geeky Rocker

Diaper Time

Skye and I thought it was time to change diapers ... together ... she wants to be involved with everything concerning her brother ...

Puddle Joy

Skye believes there is nothing better than jumping in puddles ... although she might be right ... I believe her rain gear fashion sense is way better than the joy of jumping in puddles ...

Meeting My Brother

Skye fell in love with Lincoln from the moment she first saw him ... in fact the first words out of her mouth were, "Oh thank you Mommy, he is my best friend!!"

I'm Home

So I got home around 2:00 this afternoon and the house is so quiet ... it is just David and I ... Skye is still at my mom's and Lincoln is still in the NICU ... it really is so hard coming home without your baby even though there is a good possibility he will be coming home tomorrow ...

We have only a couple of hours before we are heading back to the hospital to feed him and then going to get Skye ...

I did get to take a much needed shower which was nice ... and we do have a bit of work to do before we head out ...

I can't wait till our whole happy family is home together ...

A Feeding Fool

I didn't want to write anything until I had gotten through the whole day for fear of jinxing anything ... but I spent April Fools Day doing all of Lincoln's feedings ... every 3 hours I was down in the NICU for his bottle ... but the most important part of each bottle was the blood test that was done first ... see for every sugar test done where his numbers were above 55 his glucose central line got to be reduced by 2 mL per Hr ... Tuesday he didn't pass any of them ... in fact a couple of times he had the central line raised ... but starting early Wednesday morning he started passing his tests ... and when I was down there for his 8:30 feeding I got so excited to see the machine reduced by 6 for the 3 feedings during the night ...

So every single time I went down there yesterday he consistantly got scores around 70 which was fantastic ... and by the last feeding David and I did at 11:30 he was reduced to 1 and had actually passed enough to turn off the machine ...

So since I am up in the middle of the night I just called down there to see how he is doing ... the nurse said that after we left at 12:30 he woke up screaming about half an hour later and ate another ounce of food which is great and that his 2:30 test his score was a 72 ... the doctor is coming first thing in the morning and taking out his central line ... and she said he has been pooping up a storm which will help his bilirubin numbers ... they are a bit questionable and he is very red ... in fact David and I call him umpa loompa ... which is a sign of some jaundice but since he was to term the numbers have to be higher than his before they use the bili lights ...

So now once they take out his central line he has to go 24 hours with good sugar tests ... tests that are above 55 and ideally around 70 and then he is allowed to go home ... I'm sorry I will be leaving today because I would love to do another full day of feedings to see how he is doing ...

I'm just so very proud of how well he did all day Wednesday ... it was such a great day for all of us!!
