Week Fifty

So the temperature that sent me to the ER on Friday just kept getting worse all weekend ... the highest was 103.6 ... and I just wasn't feeling well at all ... I really just wanted to cuddle with mommy or daddy as much as I could ... Sunday night I got to sleep in bed with them because I felt terrible ...

First thing Monday morning mommy called my doctor to get me an appointment ... my doctor was so nice ... she said I looked great ... there were no ear infections or anything ... when they did the blood test it showed I was fighting a virus ... so mommy was supposed to keep giving me Tylenol and Motrin for my fever and to make sure I got plenty to drink ...

Mommy got to spend the whole day with me on Monday ... and Tuesday I spent the whole day with Daddy ... we snuggled a lot and watch Little Einsteins and The History Channel ... Wednesday afternoon I got to go to Grandmommy's house ... she read books to me and we got to crawl around and play ... and then I got to go back on Thursday morning ... Friday mommy stayed home with me and took me back to the doctor because I still had a fever ... but they said everything looked good ...

Something happened Wednesday night ... I started screaming and just couldn't stop ... I screamed constantly on Thursday and Friday and today ... no one is sure why ... not even me ... but mommy and daddy are being very patient with me ... thank goodness ...

on a non sick note I have really started walking around while holding onto things ... and I am getting so good at it ... mommy thinks I have been screaming because I want to talk and walk on my own ... and I'm just frustrated

I really missed going to school this week ... I have so much fun there ... but I'll be back next week ...

Week Forty-Nine

Gigi was moved into my class on Monday and Miss Tasha came back ... it was a huge day for me ... she was in the infant 1 class before and we got to play in the mornings but now we can play all day long ... it is so great ... so there are only 3 of us in my class now ... Gigi, me and Armasted ... Miss Tasha told mommy that Gigi and I gave Armasted a hard time all day but he just giggled about it ...

Miss Tasha has been gone for over a month on leave and came back on Monday ... I was so happy to see her and she was so glad to be back ... now I get to spend more time in the big kid infant room with all the big toys ...

But on Friday the school called mommy because I had a fever of 101.2 ... so she came and picked me up ... she took me back to work and gave me some Tylenol but by the time we got home it was up to 103 ... so we went to the emergency room ... we were there forever!! and mommy didn't know we were going to be gone so long so she had to improvise to get me to drink some juice ... they did a bunch of tests but didn't find anything wrong ... they told mommy and daddy that if I still had a fever on Monday to see my pediatrician ...

I am standing up more and more now and getting much faster at it ... and I can crawl so fast now ... I also love playing with the phone ... the other morning I was playing with it and called Mommy's friend Naomi ... not only was it the first phone call I made it was long distance too ...

I also love the TiVo remote ... this morning I was playing with it and hit the thumbs up button 3 times while watching Little Einsteins ... that lets TiVo know I really love that show ...

Week Forty-Eight

I have become an excellent eater ... I gobble everything up ... well not Lima Beans ... not too crazy about those ... but anything else that is put in front of me I'll eat ... I love watermelon and green beans ... pasta and chicken ... bites of mommy's frozen yogurt ... and pancakes, waffels and french toast for breakfast ... I'm now eating 3 meals a day with snacks and only a couple of bottles a day ... it is so much fun ...

I've also been sleeping really well ... I only cry for a few minutes when they lay me down and then I'm out for the night ... once in a while I wake up but I go right back to sleep ...

Sunday we went to Grandmommy and Granddaddy's house for dinner ... let me tell you being able to eat all the delicious food instead of a bottle makes it so much more fun ... and since I can crawl around and play now Ellie and I have fun together ... she is going to love it when I start walking and talking ...

School was so much fun as always but Miss LaKisha's last day was on Friday ... I was really sad to see her go ... I really liked having her as a teacher ... but Miss Tasha will be back from her leave next week so that is good ...

Mommy and I went grocery shopping on Friday and I had a blast ... I love going to the store and riding in the shopping cart ... I giggled the whole time cause mommy talked to me constantly ...

It is starting to get a bit warmer here and there too which is great ... I was getting tired of being bundled up all the time ...

Week Forty-Seven

We cleaned house all day on Saturday ... ALL day ... I helped mommy put away a mountain of clean clothes ... it is always so much fun for me to hand her hangers and pick up socks ... plus I get to climb all over the clothes ...

On Sunday Mommy, Daddy and I went to IKEA to get me a tent and one of those tubes you crawl through ... I had so much fun while shopping ... they have kids shopping carts and I got to eat my first Croissant while we shopped ... it was very fun ... when we got home I wasn't as excited to crawl through the tube as they thought I would be but it sure is fun to throw things in it ...

I've started cruising ... not too far and not too fast ... but I am doing it ... holding onto the coffee table I scooted myself down one side and around the corner ... it is much easier to get everything off the table when I can move around to get it ...

Mommy has gotten all sorts of sippy cups for me to try but the only ones I love are the ones where I don't have to do any work to get the drink out ... Mommy says we can't take those anywhere cause everything will get wet ... but they are the best cups ... tilt it up to my mouth and my drink comes right out ... all the other ones have straws or you have to suck really hard who wants to do all that work to get a little water ...

my two bottom teeth are really poking through now ... mommy says any day now people will really be able to see them ... it sure makes it easier when eating ... right now my favorite veggie are green beans and I adore grapes ... can't get enough of them ... and mommy and daddy laugh at me because when I eat both of them I make loud sucking sounds because I am enjoying them ... my teacher told mommy when we had corndogs the other day the whole time I kept going "mmmmmmmm" while I ate it all ... mommy thinks it is because she craved them while pregnant with me ... that I was born to love corndogs ...

Week Forty-Six

Saturday night we went to Hamburger Hamlet for mommy's birthday ... it was Grandmommy and Granddaddy ... Aunt Jenny, Uncle Jason and Ellie ... Mommy, Daddy and me ... we had so much fun ... I got to have a quesadilla for the first time and it was delicious ... and it is so much fun seeing Ellie ... she gets to do all sorts of neat things ... she colored and played with stickers while we waited for our food ... I tried to color but mostly just ate my crayon ...

The school called Mommy on Monday ... while one of the teachers was putting a little boy in my class to bed her dropped his bottle and I beelined it over to the bottle and started drinking from it ... well I guess it is a really big deal because it was breastmilk and they had to let all sorts of people know and watch me to make sure I was alright ... when Miss Belinda called mommy she didn't yell at Miss B or anything ... she told her that she understood things happen and not to worry about ... that was good ... everyone kept appologizing to mommy when she came to get me ... and mommy just goofed around with me cause of what I did ... so to make everyone feel better Mommy, Daddy and I baked cookies for everyone Monday night ... it was so much fun and I got to taste one ... it was delicious ... and on Tuesday morning when mommy brought them to school everyone was so happy ... I love doing fun projects like that ...

All this week mommy was sure I was really going to start cruising around the furniture ... I can stand up easily (but don't always want to sit down on my own ... sometimes I want a little help) and I pick up my feet while watching them but I have only moved a bit here and there ... but I'm thinking about trying it more ...

On Friday mommy picked me up from school a little early and brought me back to work so I could see Marianne and Roxanne and Mary ... I always have so much fun there ... and they all think everything I do is cute and funny ... wait till I start faking them out just to hear how cute I am ... I think they want mommy to bring me in every day ...

Well Mommy is cleaning the house today so I am going to go nap so I don't have to help too much ...

Week Forty-Five

On Saturday night Mommy, Daddy and I went out to dinner at the diner in celebration of Mommy's birthday that is coming up this week ... I got to order off the children's menu ... mommy got me green beans and grilled cheese ... I liked the green beans the best ... I wore my new bumble bee shoes that mommy painted for me and everyone stopped by to check them out ...

I'm standing up more and more now ... but I still can't pull myself up ... mommy or daddy has to help me stand up and about half the time they help me sit back down too, but once I am up it is all me ... I can stand there for quite some time ...

On Wednesday I got to stay home from school and mommy stayed home from work because it was her birthday ... daddy was home too so we all played together all day ... well for part of the day I hung out with just daddy while mommy got a pedicure ... but otherwise it was family play day ... we even ordered pizza for dinner and I tried a little and loved it ...

there isn't anything I won't eat ... every day at school now I get to eat the school lunch and my teachers say I am an awesome eater ... I gobble everything down ... and share a lot of it with my clothes ... mommy brings clean clothes almost every morning for me to change into after lunch ...

Well we are all getting ready to go out to dinner for mommy's birthday so I'll have to write about that next week ... right now I have to go nap so I am ready to party tonight ...

Week Forty-Four

We did go to the park on Saturday ... it was a beautiful day out and Daddy didn't have to work so we walked over to the park behind our house ... it was so much fun ... I went on the swing and rode the bouncy fire truck and daddy took me down the slide ... I had an absolutely great time there ...

On Monday when mommy came to pick me up her teacher had to show her my first incidence report ... I was crawling around and crawled right into a cabinet door ... and got a big goose egg on my forehead ... the teacher said I only cried for a second and that I was much happier with a cold towel than an ice pack on my bump ...

Tuesday I turned 10 months old ... mommy took my picture before school and here it is ...


On Tuesday morning the teacher said, "I was so into telling you about the incedent report that I forgot to tell you about Skye and the baby." (Mommy was a bit worried at first cause at my old school they told her I hit people all the time) ... so the teacher went on to tell mommy "Yesterday the little new baby (He is about 8 weeks old) was in the bouncy seat on the floor and any time he started to cry Skye would stop playing, crawl over to him, get up on her knees and put his paci back in his mouth and rub his tummy until he stopped crying and then she would go back to playing. She did this the whole time he was in the bouncy seat. It was so cute most of the other teachers came by to see her doing it." Mommy welled up she was so happy about the story and I think she has told everyone about it ...

On Wednesday Daddy and Miss Marianne came to pick me up ... I was surprised, mommy is the only one that has ever come to get me before ... so I got to stop by the office and see everyone before riding home with Daddy ... although he had to sign his own incedent report about me ... I fell over on my head while playing ... 2 in one week ... exciting stuff ...

On Friday morning while mommy and i were playing at school before she had to leave for work Sophia's dad told her how she was in the exersaucer and isn't mobile yet and that I kept crawling to the ball pit ... getting a ball and bringing it to her so she could play as well ...

Mommy was very proud of me this week ... that I did so many nice things for other people ... one of Grandmommy's cousins said I was an angel walking on earth.

Week Forty-Three

Daddy had to work on Saturday so Mommy and I spent the day together ... I got to go to Weight Watchers with her first thing in the morning which also means I got to hang out with Granddaddy for a while ... everyone was oohing and aahing over me and I was really really good during the whole meeting ... when we got home mommy and I played in "my" family room all afternoon ... I love having a room that is all mine to roam free in ...

On Sunday we went over to Grandmommy and Granddaddy's house for dinner ... so I got to play with Ellie which just can't be beat ... she is so neat to watch and now I am starting to be able to play with her even if I don't quite understand what we are doing ... of course Grandmommy had a bag of cute clothes to send home with me ... and Aunt Jenny made me peas for dinner which I loved feeding to myself ... those jar peas were horrible but popping real ones into my mouth is so much fun ...

I went to school every day this week too ... which may not sound like a big deal but at my old school I never went all 5 days of a week ... I really do love my new school ... Danielle and Gigi are my friends and I love to play with them ... they are both happy babies like me ...

I still haven't been great about sleeping this week ... Mommy and Daddy think my teeth are bugging me ... which is probably right ... when Mommy sticks her finger in my mouth she says she can feel 6 different teeth working their way in ... but right now all you can see is just a tiny bit of white on my two middle bottom teeth ...

On Friday at school I got to eat the school lunch which I loved and had so much fun with ... veggies and bread and peaches ... we also got to do artwork ... my very first masterpiece ... mommy came right home and framed it ... it is hanging in the kitchen now ... so exciting ...

I think mommy and daddy are going to take me to the park today cause it is so nice out so I'll have to write about that next week ...

Week Forty-Two

The room is finally mine ... all mine ...

On Saturday night we went out to dinner at the diner ... it was so much fun ... Mommy ordered for me off the children's menu ... I got my own plate of green beans which I loved and some mashed potatoes which I HATED ... wow I did not like those at all ... every time mommy gave me a bit I would make a face and even reached into my mouth to pull it out ... I started to think mommy kept giving me some because I was being funny about it ...

after dinner we went to Toys R Us to get some of the baby-proofing items we needed ... bumpers for the table ... stuff like that and I even got my own Snack Traps so I can take Cheerios with me everywhere ...

Daddy went to work on setting up the baby-proofing items and mommy gave me my first cup of Cheerios ... I wasn't too keen on only being able to get one out at a time so I outsmarted everyone ... I pushed the flap down and dumped them out ...

as soon as Daddy was finished with all the baby stuff they shut the gate and let me roam free ... I LOVE IT ... I love going anywhere in the room I want ... my toys are all there for me to play with ... it is just fantastic ... I played all day on Sunday too ...

On Monday I started my new school and I LOVE that too ... it is such a great place ... everyone is so nice there and I love all the kids ... mommy stayed and hung out with me for a while in the morning ... but it didn't matter ... I was making friends as fast as I could ... as soon as someone knew came in I would crawl right up to them and "introduce" myself (which is really just a yelp/scream kinda thing) ... when mommy came to pick me up the teachers said I had a great day and they were right ... mommy and daddy both thought I was like a different child when I got home ... so happy ...

Wednesday I went and saw the ENT in the morning ... of course they all oohed and aahed over me ... and I outsmarted the hearing tech again by knowing it was her talking and not the little animals in the corners of the booth ... they get such a kick out of that ... the doc said I am not 100% better but there is a great improvement in my ears ... much better than last month ... so they are still going to keep an eye on me and see how it is going ... which is a good thing ...

As mommy was taking me to school they called and said they were a bit short handed and could I come later in the day ... mommy decided to just take me to work since it had been ages since I had seen everyone ... they were all so happy to see me ... it was so exciting for me that I hardly slept all day but everyone had fun and isn't that what is important??

On Thursday night after daddy put me in bed I was crying a different kind of cry ... mommy went in to see what was going on and there I was ... standing in my crib for the first time ... got up all by myself ... mommy was so excited ... even got back down on my own too ... it is just a matter of time before I start cruising and walking and then there is no stopping me ...

Week Forty-One

We all rested at home over the weekend since I had been sick ... so we slept a lot and played some and just took it easy ...

On Monday I had my 9 month check-up so Mommy took me to work with her ... I wasn't feeling well at all and she felt really bad for having to take me ... even Miss Roxanne said I just didn't seem myself ... so I was quite cranky all day ... but I did do pretty well at my appointment ... I weighed in at 22 pounds and I am 30 inches long ... both the 95% for my age ... pretty good for a preemie

I had the whole week off because I was finished at my old school and don't start my new school till next week ... so on Tuesday and Wednesday I got to go to Grandmommy's house in the afternoon while Mommy and Daddy were at work ... I love going to Grandmommy's ... we play and read stories and she cuddles with me and I get to watch Eliana run all over the place ... boy I can't wait until I am big like her ...

Thursday and Friday I got to hang out with Daddy for the day ... we always have a great time ... once I start my new school there won't be many days when I get to stay home with Daddy because school is right by mommy's work ...

On Friday night Daddy put the baby gate up to block off the family room and they started working on baby-proofing the room ... ahhh ha ... the room is almost mine!!!

Week Forty

Mommy was still sick all weekend ... Daddy too ... but not me ... so I played a lot ... and took long naps with mommy and daddy ... it was great to snuggle up with them ...

Monday I went back to school ... I was really happy to see everyone ... my teachers told mommy they were really sad that I was going to be leaving but they understood how nice it would be for me to be closer to her ...

On Tuesday I turned 9 months old ... time sure flies ... here is my 9 month picture



On Tuesday Mommy stayed home sick so I stayed home with her ... Daddy had to go to work so we had the house to ourselves ... we sat in bed and watched Little Einstein ... sang songs and read books ... it was a great day ... by Tuesday afternoon it was snowing kinda hard and really raining ice ... by night time mommy knew she would have a snow day so I got to spend another whole day with her and daddy ... we had a fire going in the fireplace and I crawled all over the place ... I am getting much faster now ...

I didn't want to take a nap at all on Wednesday but when I finally laid down at 1 I fell fast asleep ... mommy and daddy were impressed with how quiet I was ... at 3 Daddy deceided to go wake me up to give me a bottle ... when he went in my room he was shocked and called mommy in ... my crib and myself was covered with throw-up ... and I hadn't made a peep ... they were so upset and felt so bad ... daddy gave me a bath while mommy cleaned it all up and called the doctor ... they were closed because of all the ice so she was waiting for them to call her back ...

I still acted hungry so mommy gave me a bottle ... I played with it more than I drank out of it ... and not 5 minutes later I threw it all up ... all over mommy and daddy ... we all changed clothes and mommy gave me some pedialyte ... she thought I was liking that better than my milk and I drank a whole bunch of it ... I love the cold grape taste ... well not even another 5 minutes I threw all that up and the doctor still hadn't called ...

so we all changed clothes again and headed for the Emergency Room ... at our hospital they have an infant emergency room so they took me back right away ... even though I hadn't had a fever at home by the time we got there it was 102 degrees ... the doctor said it was good they brought me in ... I had rotavirus and kids get dehydrated from it fast ... they gave me something to settle my stomach and motrin for my headache and I started feeling better right away ... which made mommy and daddy feel better ...

we went home and I drank pedialyte ... and I tried to go to sleep but I just didn't feel good ... so mommy sat up with me all night long ... I eventually fell asleep in her arms ... but she sat with me until it was time for her to go to work so I curled up in bed with daddy and slept for a while ...

I was feeling a bit better by the afternoon and after hanging out with daddy all day I curled up with mommy ... we were both so tired that we fell asleep and I slept ... daddy got up with me once during the night for a little while so I could have something to drink and take some medicine for my fever ... then I went back to bed ... I slept till 10:30 in the morning ... and when mommy got home from work daddy told her I seemed much better ...

but I started feeling bad again and spent most of the evening crying and really fussy on Friday ...

Week Thirty-Nine

Mommy started feeling like she had a cold on Saturday afternoon ... so we hung around the house ... Daddy built fires in the fireplace all weekend and I practiced crawling around ...

Sunday night Mommy and I went over to Grandmommy and Granddaddy's house ... they got back from a 2 week Panama Canal cruise and missed me a whole bunch ... of course grandmommy held me the whole time we were there ...

Mommy and Daddy decided to keep me home from school for the week ... I got to hang out with Daddy everyday ... it was great ... we watched Little Einsteins ... practiced standing up at my music table ... took naps together ... I love when I get to stay home with Daddy ...

On Monday mommy was still pretty upset that it took her so long to get to me when there was a problem so she called a school near her work ... it is only 5 minutes away and they told her to come on over for a tour ... well she liked it so much and they had an opening that she signed me up ... it is smaller than where I go now which is good ... only 12 kids in the infant rooms instead of 30 so they are hoping that helps in me not getting sick as often ... and the director is so very nice ... I am going to start there on Monday February 26th ... and I will get to ride to and from work with Mommy everyday ... we will get to spend so much more time together because I won't take her 2 hours to pick me up and get home anymore ...

So next week will be my last week at the school ... Mommy called and let them know ... my teachers will be sad I am sure because they love me so much and are so good to me ... and so are my friends ... but I'll make new friends and I'd never trade getting to spend more time with mommy ...

Week Thirty-Eight

The zoo was awesome ... we went on Saturday afternoon ... I had the best time ... I saw some elephants and panda bears ... a whole bunch of beautiful cranes ... otters and sea lions ... some Mexican wolves ... a lot of animals weren't out because it is winter time but mommy and daddy became FONZ (Friends of the National Zoo) and said (weather permitting) we are going to go at least once a month ... I didn't even nap the whole time we were there ... it is a great place and the weather was really nice the whole day ...

Monday and Tuesday I went to school and played with all my friends ... but I was so excited because I got to stay home with Daddy on Wednesday ... it was supposed to snow really hard and daddy was going to be home so he wanted to hang out with me ... I also went to see the ENT on Wednesday morning ... he said my ears still had fluid but weren't infected ... he said one was looking a bit better but the other had no change ... so they are all keeping an eye on me for the next month to see how it goes ... of course it didn't snow on Wednesday, mommy said there were about 4 flakes of snow ... but I did get to play with daddy all day ...

On Thursday I got to stay home with daddy again ... mommy forgot about an appointment she had scheduled for daddy and since grandmommy was still out of town I got to go with daddy to a job ... the perfect little angel that I usually am disappeared and I screamed the whole time we were there ... the customer said he didn't mind but I know daddy did ... he called mommy from the car as we were leaving and said I wasn't going to come with him to another job until I was maybe 22 ... I am sure he will change his mind in the future but for right now I don't blame him ...

Friday the school called mommy and said I woke up with the left side of my face all puffy and red and my eye red and swollen and watering ... she left work immediately but it still took her an hour and a half to get there (of course it started snowing on her way - 2 days later than it was supposed to) ... she was really upset that it took her so long ... by the time she got there my face wasn't red and puffy anymore and my eye looked a lot better ... but she took me by the nighttime doctor anyway ... we had fun hanging out and waiting for the doctor ... but mommy didn't believe anything she said ... she said I had pink eye which mommy didn't think was right ... and that I had double ear infections ... even though mommy told her I had just seen the ENT and he said there was fluid but not infected ... besides I was in too good of a mood and had no fever to have ear infections so mommy followed her instincts ... she didn't give me either of the medicines the doctor perscribed and woke up this morning and made a Saturday appointment to see one of my doctors ...

And woohoo for mommy she was right ... the doc said I didn't have pink eye and that yes there was fluid in my ears but it wasn't infected ... mommy has good instincts ...

Mommy did notice on Friday night that my two bottom teeth have started to poke through the surface ... can't really see them yet but you sure can feel them :)

Week Thirty-Seven

It snowed on Sunday ... it was beautiful ... and Ellie spent the whole day with us ... we had so much fun playing together ... which I am getting much better at ... we had a little yoguart party and everyone sat and had their own yoguart ... we listened to music and read books ... played in my room ... it was fantastic ... I had so much fun I zonked out early ...

since I didn't get to play in the snow on Sunday mommy left work early ... bundled me up in my snow suit and I got to go play with some ... although mommy said it was really just ice now it was still fun ... she said next time she will take me out while it is actually snowing ... I can hardly wait ...

I figured out the crawling thing this week ... mommy was right everything just clicked ... I'm not fast or anything but I can go forward now ... a couple of paces at a time ... I do love to lay on my tummy ... sit up ... lay back down ... sit up again ... I move around in a circle like that ... and of course mommy gets a big kick out of it ...

I also can totally hold my bottle and get stuff out of it ... I figured out it had to be tilted ... I don't feed myself all the time ... sometimes I still want mommy or daddy to do it ... but I do it a lot of the time now ... I love it ...

Most nights this week it has been really cold so daddy builds a fire in our fireplace and we hang out down there at night ... it is fun cause I can practice my crawling and it is so warm and pretty ...

today we are going to the zoo ... I can't wait ... it will be my first time there ...

Week Thirty-Six

I haven't quite gotten the crawling forward down ... but I can move backwards ... not fast but it is a steady snail pace ... Mommy says she can tell by the look on my face that I am working on going forward but it just hasn't happened yet ...

I started holding my bottle this week ... but I still need a little help sometimes drinking from it ... can't seem to tilt it up high enough to get anything ... but mommy and daddy ohhhhh'ed and ahhhhhh'ed watching me hold the bottle ...

I got to go to work with mommy for a little while on Monday ... daddy had a really early job near mommy's work ... so she took me with her and he came and picked me up ... I worked on my crawling while I was there but my jeans were so cute no one noticed the crawling ...

Mommy keeps saying any minute now everything is going to click ... I'll be feeding myself and chasing Kramer on my hands and knees ... I can't wait for that to happen ...

Week Thirty-Five

Well today is a VERY big day ... not only am I 35 weeks old I also turned 8 months old today ... mommy and daddy can hardly believe I am already 8 months old ... that is the same lenght of time I was in mommy's tummy ...

So to mark the big day I went on my first trip to IKEA ... wow what a wonderful store ... I understand why mommy calls it Mecca ... thay had the greatest stuffed animals ... and I got to ride in the little IKEA shopping cart made just for kids ... I had so much fun ...

This week was pretty fun too ... I got to try stage 3 baby food and boy do I love it ... so far my favorite is the lasagne with meat sause ... I gobbled up the whole jar ... mommy thought it smelled just like spaghetti-O's ... but it didn't matter to me ... even without any teeth yet I still "chewed" the pieces of food ...

Mommy also bought me my own yoguart this week ... since I was taking so many bites of hers she decided rather than share I could get my own ... and unlike mommy's mine has all the fat in it a growing baby needs ... I shake with excitment when I see mommy get a container of it ... and she says she can't feed it to me fast enough ...

The heater in daddy's car is broken so on Wednesday I got to stay home with him because it was so cold he just didn't want to take me out for the long drive ... I was happy about it because I love hanging out with daddy for the day ... and when mommy doesn't have to drive all the way out to pick me up I get to spend more time with her as well ... so it works out great for everyone ... while I was napping daddy actually fixed his own heater ... he is so cool and so handy ... he can fix/make/improve anything ... when I am big enough I am going to be his helper ... just like mommy was her daddy's helper when she was a kid ... this morning daddy got a table saw but I am guessing it will be quite some time before I am allowed to help him with that ...

Daddy said on Monday I looked sad about going back to school after having two whole weeks home with him and mommy and grandmommy and aunt Jenny and Ellie ... but I still had fun during the week ... I mean there is a buggy at school ... and other kids to make me laugh ...

I'm still not crawling yet but I can get into position really easily now and I do rock back and forth very well ... I am still sleeping through the night ... once in a while I wake up when I can't find my binkie but I go right back to sleep ...

Soon I will be able to crawl and I'll catch that cat of mine ... he won't be able to escape ... hahahahahaaaaaa

Week Thirty-Four

This was a pretty exciting week for me ... I stayed home from school again so I got to do all sorts of fun (and not so fun) stuff ...

Unfortunately mommy had to take me to the doctor again first thing Saturday morning ... I had finished my antibiotic but was really fussy Friday night and tugging on my ears so first thing Saturday morning we were in the doctors office ... she said my ear infections looked better but they hadn't totally cleared up ... and she was concerned about that ... so they gave mommy the name of an ear, nose and throat doctor (ENT) and said she should give him a call ... especially since I have basically had 4 ear infections (in both ears) in the last 2 months and they have never completely cleared up ...

this time the medicine they gave me I only had to take for 5 days ... instead of the 10 for all the others ... and mommy thinks it is helping because this week, every single night, I slept through the night ... the first time since the middle of October ... which is when she suspects I got my first ear infection ... mommy is such a happy person when she gets so much sleep ... and it turns out I am too ...

Daddy was really sick over the weekend, some sort of virus so mommy and I let him rest ... we ran errands and hung out reading books ... both Daddy and I were asleep before midnight on New Year's Eve ... so mommy taped the ball dropping in Times Square and we all had our own New Year's Celebration on Monday morning ...

Mommy was off from work all day on Monday so we played the whole day ... it was great ... I love when mommy is home for the day ... this week I also started getting up on my hands and knees in the crawl position ... rocking back and forth ... and mommy came into my room Monday morning and noticed I was up on my hands and knees and grabbing my mobile ... so that afternoon mommy and daddy lowered my crib to the bottom hole ... it is like I am a big girl now ... next step a big girl bed ... although I assume that won't be for quite some time now ... but I love the crib how it is now ... I am able to see more of my beautiful butterflies and mommy and daddy coming in because the bumper doesn't block my view being down so low ... it is fantastic ...

Tuesday I spent the whole day with Daddy ... he wasn't feeling very well but since I have been on so many antibiotics I could hang out with him ... we snuggled and snoozed on the couch a lot ... it was GREAT ...

on both Wednesday and Thursday I got to hang out with Grandmommy ... it seemed like it had been so long since I had seen her since she had been in North Carolina for Christmas ... but before I could go to Grandmommy's house on Wednesday mommy took me to see the ENT ... and I was sooooooooo good during my appointment ...

They had to do all sorts of tests ... but I have kind of gotten used to some of them so I stay much more still ... like when they look in my ears ... I sat on Mommy's lap in a really cool chair and she held my hand while the nurse checked me out ... then they took me to this cool little room where they took a picture of the inside of my ears ... then gave me a hearing test where this stuffed pig and bird on opposite ends of the room kept calling my name ... then the doctor came in to see me ... and he checked out my ears ... I got a little fussy when he cleaned them a bit but overall I did a pretty good job ...

Since I am currently on an antibiotic the doctor said he wanted to see how I did on that ... but he too said my ears were still a bit infected ... he also told mommy I had about a 15% hearing loss but he didn't think it was permenant ... that once the fluid was out of my ears I would be good as new ...

The bad news is that when I go back on January 31st is when they will make the decision of if I have to have tubes put in my ears or not ... mommy and daddy are really scared ... although everyone has told them the surgery is harder on the parents than the child ... and that I will feel 100% better immediately ... so they are starting to think it might be a good idea ... but they will wait to see what the doctor says at the end of the month ... he did say there is a chance I could burst into a high fever again before the 31st which would mean I have another acute ear infection and that I should see my doctor and get another antibiotic ... but they are hoping soon I won't have to take so much medicine ...

On Friday mommy took the day off and we got to go to Washington DC ... we had dinner with mommy's friend from High School Amy and Melissa and 4 of their 5 kids (Melissa had a baby 9 months ago who stayed in California with his daddy so her 2 older sons came and Amy's son and daughter) ... it was so much fun ... especially for mommy ... she hadn't seen Amy in about 15 years but it was like nothing had changed even though they were now all mommies ... and I even stayed awake past my bedtime and did great ... I loved playing with Payton (Amy's daughter) ... she was so sweet to me and we were even both wearing Ugg boots ... mommy and daddy decided on the way home we were going to go into DC more often ... especially once it gets warmer ... I'm so excited because I thought it was fantastic ...

And it seemed like the first Friday night in a long time that Mommy wasn't planning on taking me to the doctor first thing Saturday morning ... woohoo ... yea for me ... and yea for everyone in this house that I am now, once again, sleeping through the night ... lets just hope I didn't jinx it writing about it ...
