Doctor Doctor

Today Skye had a doctors appointment for her terrible cough ... and I have to say she did a great job ... for a while there she screamed the whole time she was in the doctors office but since she has been a bunch with Lincoln for his appointments she does a lot better ... and we switched to a new doctor in the practiced ... an older man that she just digs ... and he is just so sweet with both the kids ...

She did a great job despite the fact we had to see a woman that I am not too fond of ... but I would never let on to Skye about that ... we just have very opposing ideas about kids ... anything I would want to do she comes in with the exact opposite ... and totally reppramanded me once again for giving Skye cough medicine ... she is a total anti medicine doc under pretty much any circumstances ... but I digress ...

Skye coughed and breathed when asked and was so great with the doc ... and she just loves posing for pics on the phone ...

Afterward we got to stop at the McDonald's downstairs and get a chocolate milk and we bought one of the lego cars from the Happy Meal which she loves ...

Together

Tonight my kids were inconsolable ... you may not be able to tell from these photos ... that is because any time I had them together they were fine ... separate them (like putting them each in their own rooms to sleep) and the crying and wailing wouldn't stop ...

It is endearing that they love each other so much ... Linc is just mesmerized any time Skye is around ... and she just loves how he smiles so big when she sings to him ... I know it won't last forever but for right now it is precious and I am soaking in as much as I can ...

Rock Band

So we have our own Rock Band now ... and it is the favorite family activity lately ... Skye wants to do it every night ... once we move it downstairs it will be even better ... more room to really rock out ... but I gotta say for a 3 year old she is doing really well ... and even David and I are getting better with every jam session ...

Skye's School

Currently at Schuyler's school they are doing "All About Me" ... making pictures of themselves ... bringing in photos of family ... and doing all sorts of ME things ... of course Schuyler loves it ...

The day her teacher hung up her family photos Schuyler was ecstatic ... she couldn't wait to show me ...

She is just loving school so so so much ... every day when I pick her up she says, "I'm having fun ... so much fun" ... which a mom loves to hear ...

So she wanted me to take photos of all her "about me" stuff and I just wanted some photos of her classroom ... so camera phone in hand I took photos of her classroom this afternoon when I picked her up ... she couldn't wait to show them to anyone who would check them out ... I love that she is so proud of her school and all her friends there ... they all have to give each other hugs when they are leaving ... just warms my heart ...

What Would You Do?

So that has been the big question lately around here ... what would you do if you won the Mega Millions ... tonight's jackpot is up to 333 Million Dollars ... that is one of the top prizes ever ... I think the biggest was somewhere around 360 Million Dollars ...

After I came to, my goal would be to make the lives of those that are close to me better ... and I think that would bring me more joy and excitement than anything I could do for myself ...

David and I were talking about it last night ... with a 333 million dollar jackpot the yearly payout is a bit over 12 million dollars ... TWELVE MILLION A YEAR  ... that means I could easily pick 10 people ... hell for 2 million a year I could pick 20 people and say, "quit your job ... spend time with your family ... I will be giving you 100K every year that I get my lottery money and by the way we just paid off your mortgage." ... How freakin incredible would that be ... to do that for parents and siblings and close friends ... it brings tears to my eyes think about doing that ... I wouldn't know who to call first because I would be so excited that I could do that for people ... (wow I am all teary) ...

Think of the circle of people around you and how it would change every aspect of their life ... I just can't help but get choked up about it ... it would just be amazing ...

I think the thing I would do for myself ... my big indulgence ... I would get pregnant again ... I want more kids so badly but we just can't afford to have another one ... so that is the very first thing I would do for myself ...

And to get ready for that new addition ... my family would need a vacation ... because it has been over 2 years since we have gone anywhere ... and I want that time together away from everyday life to just have fun ...

So those are my lottery dreams ... lofty I know ... but a girl can dream ... and let me tell you I dream about them all the time ...

Holding Hands

This morning when I dropped Schuyler off at school (she is going every day this week as a special treat) all the kids were on the playground ... so Skye headed right out there ... we hugged and kissed good-bye and I headed into her classroom to put her stuff away ... as I was leaving I saw Schuyler on the playground walking around holding hands with a boy in her class ... they were just so very precious it gave me pause ... I had to stand there a moment and watch her ... it warmed my heart ...

Lately she and all her friends cheer and scream hello in the morning ... and at the end of the day they all hug to say good-bye ... I love how close she is becoming with all her friends and so happy she gets to spend time with all of them ...

Crown Royal

Today Schuyler and I went to Target ... we had lots of different things to get but the most important was a crown ... see we have been working on a new night time routine to get to sleep in a more timely manner ... one of the books we have been reading is about Elmo and Zoe and ballerina Zoe has a crown ... so Skye really wanted one too to go with her ballerina outfit ... the deal was if she went to bed every night on time we would go and get one ... so we headed off to Target ...

Of course we had to have some other fun in the store ... trying on hats and glasses (one of her favorite things to do)

The necklace that came with the crown ensemble place a snippet of a song from The Little Mermaid ... she played it throughout the whole store and the whole car ride home ... it is quite short and there are no words to it so it isn't as annoying as it could be ... and it just makes her light up ...

Speaking of lighting up ... the jewel on the crown lights up when you press it ... and it has 3 bracelets and a ring and earrings (she won't wear the earrings though ... I wear them) ...

So as soon as bath time was over tonight we opened the package ... she kept exclaiming "oh my my" ... it was so adorable ... for a girl who hates headbands she sure does love the crown (which sits on her head with a headband) ...

She begged me to take photos of her with it on ... so here they are ... the ballerina princess ...

New Header

I've had the same header for almost a year ... because I realized that I read blogs from my google reader and never see what the actual site looks like (or very rarely do) ... but I thought it was time to add my son to the header ... I'm not as thrilled with it as the last one ... and I don't have a great photo of the two of them together ... but it is what it is ... and I am glad he is now added ...

Oh The Fair

Today we took Schuyler to the fair (we left Lincoln with Grandmommy and Granddaddy) ... I had been looking forward to it for some time ... I just knew she would have fun and I was right ... she loved every moment of it ...

We had to ride the merry-go-round 4 times and if it hadn't started raining we would have written it 4 more times ... we saw lots of animals like goats and bunnies and cows and lots of horses ... she got so excited with each new barn we explored ...

We got to have corn dogs and ice cream ... sausage and lemonade ... we got balloons and saw cool cars ... a toilet bowl decorating contest ... everything about the day was just perfect ... even the rain didn't dampen our spirits ... on the way to the car she asked if we could go again next year ...

Tutu Ballet

Today when Skye and I pulled up to the house there were two packages on the front porch ... she was sooooooooo excited ... one was addressed to her and the other to Lincoln ... she must have said she needed to open it 28 times before we even got in the house ...

She told me she would open Lincoln's package after hers since he was too little to open it ...

In her package were two of the most beautiful dresses and this adorable ballerina outfit

... she squealed with delight ... she liked them all so much that she asked if she could try them all on ... I was impressed ...

Lincoln got 3 fantastic outfits as well and the cutest ever watch that I am sure he will love when he is older ...

The gifts were from Nana Liz (David's mom) and everything she got was just stupendous ... love everything ...

Skye had to put on her ballerina outfit several times tonight and the dance moves she performed were precious ...

Back Up and Running

So for the last week or so I've been working on setting up a new server ... so any spare moment has been allocated to that ... it has kind of been like old times for David and I working on a server together ... seeing as when we met I looked forward to the times he and I worked on a server together ... in fact I started to reminnesse about it today with him and he just rolled his eyes and said "yea ok whatever" but for me it did bring back sweet memories ...

but I digress ...

so our new server is all set up and with that I also set up a new domain for my blog ... it will always be accessable with the http://familyandthesuburbs.wordpress.com ... but also familyandthesuburbs.com comes to the same place ... now if I could just find a new photo that includes both my cuties for the header ... especially since the last one is from October and we are almost at October again ...

Anyway there were a bunch of technical problems we encountered while setting up the server and I must say I am very proud of us ... we worked and researched and tried different things until we solved the problems ... very satisfying ...

Now that I don't have to worry about what I posted to move it to the new server I can get back to posting ...

The Kitchen Before & After

So I noticed while going through the photos of the kitchen that I took pictures in all the same spots before the work started and then for the final photos ... I will admit I am more than a little embarrassed about the before pictures ... but they do make the after photos look even better ...

Trade?

So tonight Skye really wanted to stay up until her daddy got home ... which I was fine with ... he had been gone all weekend and she was dying to see him ... so I let her bring her dvd player in her room so she could watch a movie while she relaxed in bed ...

Every time she went pee she wanted another chocolate mint ... at one point I told her we had to stop getting treats for going pee ... she gave me a pftt and was back in her room ...

When she came to the top of the stairs to proclaim yet again that she had gone pee and needed a chocolate mint I informed her she had had enough for the evening ... this was not the answer she was looking for ... so I told her I would make a deal with her ... she could have her movie player or a chocolate mint ... which one did she want ...

Her first answer of course was, "I want my mobie and a chocolate mint." ... I told her that was the wrong conjunction (we've been watching a lot of School House Rock lately and she loves Conjunction Junction) ... we were using the conjunction OR ... she could have her movie OR the chocolate mint ...

With her finger to her mouth she said, "Hummmmm ... I'll take the mobie" ... and back to her room she went ...

Not even 10 minutes later she comes down the stairs with her movie player and said, "I want to trade my mobie player for a chocolate mint please." ...

How could I say no to that ... it was beyond adorable ... so I took possession of the movie player and we went to the kitchen for a chocolate mint.

She snuggled next to me on the couch and said, "Mommy that was a good trade. This is delicious." ...

How Many?

With chocolate on her face Skye came up to me as I was coming out of Linc's room ... the conversation went as follows:

Me: How many chocolate mints did you eat while mommy was in Lincoln's room?

Skye: One

Me: How many?

Skye: one, two, three, four, five, six and seven

Me: Schuyler how many did you have? Do you remember mommy saying you could have one?

Skye: Yes

Me: Did you have more than one?

Skye: (sly smile) Yes

Me: How many?

Skye: one, two, three

Me: Did you have 4?

Skye: NOOOOOOOOO. I had two

Me: Did you have three? remember I can go down and count the wrappers

Skye: (shocked look on her face) Yes mommy I got three. But they are just so delicious I had to. You should try one, you love it. You will.

Me: Yes mommy knows how great chocolate mints are but I told you you could have one, now I have to put them up high.

Skye: How did you know?

Me: There is too much chocolate on your face for just one mint.

Skye over-exaggeratedly licking her lips ... not realizing it is just too late to cover up now ...

Smart Cookie

My kid has got a memory like a steel trap ... I am amazed at the things she remembers ... today in the car we were jamming out to Pandora and having a great time ... then this song came on and I started thinking, "This sounds familiar ... what movie is this from?" and from the back seat I hear, "Mommy this is from Wall-E when Wall-E and Eve dance around in the sky." ...

And wouldn't you know it she was right ... playing on Pandora was Louis Armstrong's La Vie En Rose from the scene in Wall-E ... I was just so very impressed ...

Knock Knock

We are in the process of replacing all the doors in our house ... the ones attached to rooms that had work got replaced as part of the work ... the other 7 David is doing on his own ... and has decided to go the "from scratch" route ... so he has to do everything involved ... this is a video of the first door he did ... it came out GREAT ... I can't wait to see them all done ... even if we have to do it bit by bit and will take some time ... he did such a great job the house is going to be rockin' when he is finished ...

Linc's First Saucer Ride

Today we whipped out the exersaucer and after what took forever to clean and wash everything he got to try it out for the first time ... and he loved it ... and so did Schuyler ... she was so excited to show him how everything works ...

He loves looking around and feeling a part of everything and this is the perfect item for him ... he did a great job holding his head up ... and really got some good bounces in (which he loved) and moved around in it ...

He isn't a newborn anymore ... he is officially a baby now ...

Ours apparently is growing the biggest veggies around ... Schuyler was so excited to pick the veggies ... they are just gorgeous and H U G E ... i couldn't believe it ...
