Time Projection

Well my alarm clock died on Thursday ... I hate the process of getting a new clock ... my first one I had for 20 years ... I was used to it ... it was reliable ... I didn't want to change but alas I was forced to ...

The next one I had for about 8 years ... they obviously don't make them like they did in the 80's ... but I eventually got used to it and fell in love with it as well ... so Thursday night when I headed up to bed and saw the familiar scrambled looking display I was crushed ... I mean I am almost 39 years old and I've only had 2 clocks that have woken me up ... before that it was my mom ...

So yesterday Schuyler and I headed to Target in search of a new alarm clock for mommy ... at first the only ones I could find were iPod docking stations ... and although I would very much like an iPod ... I don't have one ... and I also don't have over 100 bucks to get something to wake me up ...

She and I walked all over looking for clocks ... until I finally asked and found out they were near the iPod ones ... so back we went to check them out ...

Of course Skye fell in love with a Hello Kitty one ... and had it had all the features I needed I probably would have gotten that one ... cause it was cute ... but it didn't so we kept looking ... I really didn't want to spend more than $20 on a new clock ... and to see them all I needed to sit on the floor ...

::: go ahead and get the image of a very ungraceful very pregnant woman trying to sit on the ground out of your head :::

so after literally plopping myself down we began our search ... it needed duel alarms ... radio ... snooze ... and voila ... there was one for under 20 bucks with all of those things ... plus it was a slim design (I don't have a big night stand) and it had projection ... it would show on the ceiling ... which I don't really need but I thought it would be nice ... turns out it also has atomic capabilities ... it says when you plug it in it automatically gets the time and date and it has a back up battery if the power goes out ...

so  woooohoooooo I found the clock I was getting ... now the trick was trying to get up off the floor in the store without causing a scene ...

::: unfortunately you once again have an image of a very ungraceful very pregnant woman trying to get up off the floor ... this one might be harder to get out of your mind :::

Well true to the boxes word as soon as David plugged it in (I was about to get on the floor again) it picked up the time ... turns out you can have the projection be red, blue or green ... I chose blue ... well in all the years I have worn glasses this is the first clock I can see the time without my glasses on ... it projects big enough on the ceiling that I could read it each of the 4 times I got up to go to the bathroom last night ... and even better the display is big enough that I can read it without glasses ... it is amazing ... the snooze worked perfectly this morning and it has a very nice buzzer ... it is all just fantastic ... I couldn't be more happy with my purchase ... I'm in love ...

So I guess all in all having to get something new ... even if you resist the idea at first ... can turn out to be a VERY good thing in the end ...

Valentine's Day With Kids

This Valentine's day was fabulous ... it becomes something totally different when you have a child old enough to feel the day is special ... Schuyler said "Happy Valentine's Day" all day today ... it was fantastic ...

We all had a bunch of cards to open this morning ... it was so nice ... and Skye went crazy for it ... she loves all the Valentine's cards ... she also got a little stuffed dog that you can record a message on and she kept talking about how cute he was ... what was cute was her ...

Her favorite part of the day were the red, white and pink M&Ms we had ... she is the biggest chocolate lover I know ... and it is hard to resist her with her hands open together saying, "More chocolate please" ...

Tonight we all watched Wall-E and Skye loved it ... as soon as it was over she asked if we could watch it again ... I had to promise her we could watch it during breakfast tomorrow ...

It has been such a great family day ... there was nothing overly special we did today but the fact that we were all together made me so happy ... and the over abundance of hugs and kisses was pretty great too ...

I even got a new camera case and a gift certificate for a very much needed pedicure ... so excited about that ...

31 Weeks

I had a sono this morning ... and there is a big baby in me ... who would have guessed that ... he is measuring 5.7 pounds which is about right for 36 weeks ... the doc was joking around and said if I wasn't already planning on a c-section he would suggest it now ...

Everything looked great he said ... he gave me a face and heart photo ...

He asked yet if we had picked the day and I told him that next Thursday my doctor said we would do that ... he told me that I could maybe even go to 39 weeks since things were progressing along well ... we'll see ... cause at this point I am pretty close to ready ... the house might not be but I am ...

I don't sleep that well anymore ... and I am not 100% sure it is because Skye joined the ranks in our room since her room is destroyed with stuff from the remodel ... I think a lot of it is just being so big and uncomfortable and the pain of getting up in the middle of the night to pee so many times ... and I am just hot all the time ... ack!!!!!

So I've got the ligament pains going on in my sides when I turn over in bed wrong or stand up to fast or sometimes I just have to move and they are there ... I'm walking slower too ... and that leaned back pregnant walk ... although I am not holding my back yet and I rarely rest my hands/arms on my belly ... but I am sure all that will be coming in time ...

Skye talks to my stomach a lot now ... and more often when she is rattling off the members of her family she includes her new brother ... lets just hope once he arrives she stays this excited ... :)

Our New Friends

These are Skye's new friends ... Cube Kermit ... Cube Grover and Cube Kitty Kitty ...

Cube E Craft ... they have some adorable designs ... print them out on heavy paper ... cut them out (which isn't quick but totally relaxing and worth it) and pop them together without tape or glue ... I started with Hello Kitty on Friday night when I got home from work and she was smitten ... I made Kermit after she went to bed on Friday and he was waiting for her when she got up Saturday ... she hugged him and then hugged me and said thank you ... so Saturday night I made Grover ... again she was thrilled when she woke up this morning ... and she spent the day asking me when I was making the others I had printed out ...

Today she was so good while we were cleaning and moving stuff around in the house so I told her she could have some ice cream tonight ... so after a nice long hot bath she sat down for a bowl of ice cream with chocolate syrup and wanted to gather all her friends ... once everything and everyone was in place she wanted her picture taken ...

While she enjoyed she kept saying, "Oh thank you mommy thank you." ...

She is just so awesome ... I am sad when the weekend comes to a close because it is back to work and then I only get a couple of hours with her at the end of the day ... man I want to be her all day every day ... cause these moments are precious ... and I just love everything about her ...

Catching Up

So I've had a bunch of blog posts in my head but just haven't sat down to write ...

Skye got sick on Tuesday afternoon ... started not feeling good ... of course David was booked for jobs all day Wednesday so I stayed home from work and took her to the doctor ... she was very congested and I wanted to make sure it wasn't settling in her ears ...

Even though Skye says all the time that she, "needs to go to the doctor" she didn't want to be there and cried the whole time we were in the office ... even though her nurse was wearing a Pink Panther (one of Skye's favorites) top and the doctor brought in a pin wheel ... her ears looked fine but her tonsils are big ... so we gotta keep an eye on those ...

Of course the doctor said not to give her medicine cause she is young and we just don't do that anymore ... I could give her Tylenol if I wanted ... I was going to try and do that ... but today is Saturday and she was just getting worse every day ... I broke down and gave her Tylenol cold this morning ... there is a HUGE difference in how she feels tonight ... snot hasn't been streaming out her nose all day ... her cough has disappeared ... she isn't flush anymore and she just seems happier ... so why is it we aren't supposed to give kids medicine??? Why do they say it doesn't work??? Cause I am telling you 3 doses and she is way better than she has been ...

The unfortunate part in this is that I am now getting a headache and a runny nose ... I keep sneezing and a cough is on the horizon ... I can feel it ... so could I have avoided this if on Tuesday when she started feeling bad I started giving her Tylenol cold then??? Cause I can't take anything for my cold ... so it just sucks for me ...

Skye has also been sleeping in our room for a week now ... with all the work being done and no window downstairs (just plastic where the window is supposed to be) and tools all over the place we just figured it was easier to move her mattress into our room and we could all sleep in there ... only she doesn't want to sleep on her mattress ... she wants to sleep with us ... which works well for David and Skye but not mommy ... I was crying at 2:30 last night because I was so bone tired ... had no room in the bed ... was dying of heat ... and just plain 'ol tired of not getting any sleep ... it is hard enough to sleep with this huge pregnant belly but then add a kid to the mix who either turns the TV on herself and talks about what she is watching and won't go to sleep ... or when she is asleep is taking up my side of the bed and kicking me and producing enough heat to keeps a small village warm ... well it just makes for a tired and cranky pregnant mommy ...

We did take a family nap today ... for 3 hours ... during which we all slept which was great ... but now it is 9:30 and she is no where near ready to go to bed ... so although I got a nap it could be a while before sleepy time hits ...

And I have to admit with the construction going on I have actually gotten to the point where the mess is making me crazy ... I didn't think it would really bother me but maybe I am hitting some nesting phase or maybe it is just so overwhelming that it has made me crazy ... but I am officially crazy ... and the bummer is I don't have the motivation to do much about it ... waddling around ... back hurting ... heavy tummy ... they aren't ideal conditions for hauling junk around ... purging stuff from our home ... and cleaning the insanely dusty mess ... but something has gotta happen ... cause before I know it the construction will have moved into our room and then it will be everywhere ...

On a fun note ever since we went to Build-a-Bear to make Skye's kitty that holds her binkies she has been B free ... a week now ... and I am quite impressed with that ... I mean all the stuff going on at the house ... and the people in and out and the mess and being sick ... and she is still binky free ... she found one put it in her mouth for a second and then gave it to me and asked me to put it in her kitty ...

She also found a game on the BAB web site that she loves ... Fluffed & Fabulous... you move the mouse around and click on the things you want Bear to do to get ready for the day ... I am so impressed with how she can move the mouse to what she wants ... click it and then cheer when Bear takes a bath or brushes his teeth ... it is just so cute and so amazing to watch her ... she wants to play it all the time and I am ready at any time to turn over my laptop to her ... except now she says it is her computer and mommy can use it ...

30 Weeks

So with fingers crossed I have only 8 weeks to go ... this is the nervous time for me ... at 34 weeks with Skye is when I went into the hospital and then was on bed rest till 36 weeks when I had her ... but this time I think I've done better ... I hardly have swelled up at all ... if it does happen it is if I sit for a long time but then goes away right away ... I mean I have worn my regular shoes the whole time ... it is great ...

My shirts, I noticed today, are hardly covering my stomach ... the belly panel on my pants is very noticeable ... oh well I'm not trying to win some fashion show or anything ...

Skye is talking about Lincoln all the time now ... it is so cute ... she has no idea what she is in for ... she had trouble sharing her toys this past weekend with her cousin ... wait till someone is here all the time ... and touching her stuff ...

After our renovation is finished we will have to jump on doing the rooms ... Skye is getting a new room and she is going to get a queen size bed for a while ... the bed out of our guest room ... and Lincoln is going to use her crib (which will one day turn into a full size bed for her) ... we just need to figure out how to decorate her new room ... we are at a loss ... she isn't to the point of telling us what she wants ... everything sounds good to her ... whatever we do I am sure she will love her new room ...

994 B Days

Skye has used a B (her word for a pacifier) for 994 days straight ... every day and every night when going to bed ...

For a while we were very good at just using the Binky when sleeping ... but bit by bit it would creep into everyday life ... she loved laying on mommy's bed to watch some TV and snuggle because if she was in bed she figured she could use the B ...

But lately she has been really chewing on them ... which breaks them apart ... and makes them so dangerous ... and I know she is big enough to not "need" them anymore ...

Part of me just wanted to wait until her soon-to-be new brother didn't need them anymore because I do I keep them away from her when he is using them ... but the opportunity presented itself yesterday ...

It started with her waking up at 4 in the morning and asking to come into mommy's bed ... when she got in bed she realized her B was totally torn open which meant it just wasn't working for her and she threw it across the room ... we snuggled for a couple of hours with no Binky ... and Saturday she never asked for one while we were downstairs or when we took a nap on Saturday afternoon ...

Then there was a post on my board about wanting to stop using the binky ... someone suggested going to Build-a-Bear and putting the binkies in the stuffed animal with the hearts you kiss and make a wish on ... so I asked Skye if she wanted to do that ... and she seemed quite excited about it ...

We talked about it all day Saturday and went to the Build-a-Bear website to look at all the different options ... she thought they were all great ... then this morning we played games on the site ... they have one where you help the bear get ready for the day ... taking a shower and brushing his teeth and hair ... she got great with the mouse and moving it to the task she wanted and clicking the button ... it was fantastic ...

So this evening we headed to the mall to go to Build-a-Bear ... Grandmommy and Granddaddy came with us as well ... as soon as she spotted the store she let go of my hand and went running ... so excited ... yelling back over her shoulder to "run run ... try ... run mommy" ...

She looked at all the different choices ... and of course loved them all ... but finally settled on an adorable grey cat ...

We headed over to the stuffing machine ... she was not too crazy about the sound but did hit the peddle and liked watching her cat fill up ... then she kissed her hearts (she said she needed to have two) and put them in her kitty ... then it was the moment mommy was a bit nervous for ... I pulled the B's out of my purse ... and she lost it for a bit ... started crying and came and sat on my lap saying she wanted her B's ... "please mommy B's ... I want B's" ...

I reminded her that we came here because she decided she wanted to be a big girl and not use B's anymore ... and that we figured the best place for them was in her new friend ... she stuck one in her mouth for a second ... pulled it out ... looked at me and said, "OK mommy" ... gave me a hug ... kissed her Binky and then shoved him in the kitty ... then tried to shove the second one in as well ... it got a bit stuck so mommy had to help a bit ...

Then the girl helping us stitched up his back and gave him to Schuyler to love ... and she gave him a great big kiss and hug and said, "Thank you mommy!!!" ...

We washed him off and then "ran" to the computers ... she loves playing with the computers there ...

She helped me fill in everything on the birth certificate and she decided to name her new kitty "Cat" ...

Then she carried her kitty up to the register and thought the carrying case we got was the coolest thing ever ...

David and I kept telling her how proud we were of her ... and she thanked us every time ... so sweet ...

As soon as she got in the car to go home she asked for Cat to sit with her ... and they snuggled and fell asleep together ...

She is in love with her new friend and she can feel her B's inside him but knows she doesn't have to have them ... I am just beyond proud of her right now ... I know shoving them in there tonight was so hard for her but she did it and made us so proud in the process ...

It is so rewarding to see them growing up and so hard at the same time ... she is just such a special little girl and so easily make my heart melt ... how did I get so lucky???
