Posting From My Pre

I am writing this post from my new Palm Pre while listening to my Pandora station on the phone and Skye is playing in the tub ... A M A Z I N G ...that is the best way to describe it ... Besides making me beyond happy it has changed my life ... It syncs with google calendar so now scheduling jobs for david is so easy ... Anything I put in the calendar from my phone or the internet goes to both our phones without us having to do anything ... Talk about making it easy to keep up with everything everyone in the family is doing ... think of the future when there are all sorts of kids stuff to schedule ...

It also connects to any available wifi network ... how slick is that ... when i am out and about it connects ... otherwise it uses the phone and it is super fast ...

the camera is amazing too ... it has a flash ... on my cell phone ... and it takes pictures so fast ... like 2 seconds between them and it might be that slow because i have to hit the button again ... and when i say slow i am being sarcastic ... i actually have taken action shots of skye going down the slide and can get 3 snapped off ...

it is super small ... super light ... and has a full keyboard ... making it easy to type this post ... internet is lightening fast ... the whole thing just absolutely rocks my world ... and every day there are more and more apps for it ... i've played with the iPhone ... this phone blows that out of the water ... it is seriously a mini computer ...

Thank goodness I woke up at the crack of dawn and got in line for these phones ... it was so so so worth it ...

IKEA Love

I love IKEA even more today than I did yesterday ...

First off they have the best kids hangers ... I just love them ... they will work for years because the size is just right ...

So with another little one on the way I need more hangers and since I haven't done anything ahead of time I've been needing to stop and today was finally the day ...

Now I am sure I have mentioned it before but I worked at IKEA and absolutely loved the job ... thought about making it a career in their design department (where you get to work on the showrooms) ... so since I worked there I know how to get to any section of the store no problem ... I've actually had friends ask if I will go with them so we can get right to what they are looking for ...

With this knowledge I know that when you go up to the top floor to start your shopping experience you can turn to your left and the kids section is right there ... it is the last area on the top floor ... problem is without going through a no merchandise area you can't get right to the cash registers ... and at this point there is NO WAY I could make the walk to the check out even with the short cuts I know ...

So I asked an employee that works in the entry way if it was alright if I went up and got the kids hangers and came back through the entrance and cut over to the check out ... that there was just no way I could walk through the store ... and he said yes ... not a problem ... especially since I was sooooooooooo pregnant ...

That just made my trip ... it made it so much easier on me I couldn't believe it ... and I was in and out of there in no time without an extra mile of walking ... I am so glad I asked ...

And I scored 96 new awesome hangers for 16 dollars ... you can hardly beat that ...

Versus

So today while Schuyler and I were cleaning the bedroom a commercial came on Sprout for the Bissel Versusvacuum cleaner ... I was mesmerized immediately ... it was like the commercial was made just for me ... 95% of our house is bare floors and most stuff just gets pushed around ... this vacuum had a big hole in the bottom with blowing air on the sides to move debris into the big hole ...

The words out of my mouth were "Holy Crap" ... then as I heard my almost 3 year old keep saying "Howy Cwap mommy howy cwap" I realized even with something this exciting I need to watch what I am saying ...

The commercial said it was available at Target and Target.com ... so I went right for the computer to check ... it wasn't online so I called my local Target ... they had no idea what I was talking about so I called the next closest one and they had it and they said they would hold it at guest services for me ... well being as huge as I am that made it even better for me that I wouldn't have to walk across the store ... the commercial said it was 69.99 ... I thought that was a fair price ... cheaper than the last vacuum I bought which I praised but it has slowly worked less and less well and is way better as just a dust buster ... the website said it was 79.99 ... I have some gift cards I got for my birthday from Target so it was still sounding alright ...

Skye and I got in the car immediately ... and headed to Target ... walked right up to guest services and their cost was 59.99 ... well now I scored ... if it worked half as well as I was envisioning I was happy ...

We got it home and I spent the rest of the day cleaning and purging our bedroom ... with all 3 of us living in there the last couple of months it had become a mess to say the least ... I wanted everything cleaned up and put away before I whipped out the vacuum ... it was great motivation to get it all done ...

The time had come to try out this new fangled vacuum ... and sadly I was very excited ...

Well let me say ... it works WONDERFULLY ... even picked up a toy golf ball and every single item on the floor ... no problem at all ... and the V shape really helped get into places I couldn't before ...

The room looks wonderful ... but I am going to hold off on being too excited because I know that most of the vacuums I have tried have been awesome the first time I used them but deterriorate bit by bit as time goes on ... but so far I am very happy ... and I hope it keeps up ... the design is a great idea for bare floors ... so fingers crossed I am still in love with it the 10th and 20th and 50th time I use it ...

Time Projection

Well my alarm clock died on Thursday ... I hate the process of getting a new clock ... my first one I had for 20 years ... I was used to it ... it was reliable ... I didn't want to change but alas I was forced to ...

The next one I had for about 8 years ... they obviously don't make them like they did in the 80's ... but I eventually got used to it and fell in love with it as well ... so Thursday night when I headed up to bed and saw the familiar scrambled looking display I was crushed ... I mean I am almost 39 years old and I've only had 2 clocks that have woken me up ... before that it was my mom ...

So yesterday Schuyler and I headed to Target in search of a new alarm clock for mommy ... at first the only ones I could find were iPod docking stations ... and although I would very much like an iPod ... I don't have one ... and I also don't have over 100 bucks to get something to wake me up ...

She and I walked all over looking for clocks ... until I finally asked and found out they were near the iPod ones ... so back we went to check them out ...

Of course Skye fell in love with a Hello Kitty one ... and had it had all the features I needed I probably would have gotten that one ... cause it was cute ... but it didn't so we kept looking ... I really didn't want to spend more than $20 on a new clock ... and to see them all I needed to sit on the floor ...

::: go ahead and get the image of a very ungraceful very pregnant woman trying to sit on the ground out of your head :::

so after literally plopping myself down we began our search ... it needed duel alarms ... radio ... snooze ... and voila ... there was one for under 20 bucks with all of those things ... plus it was a slim design (I don't have a big night stand) and it had projection ... it would show on the ceiling ... which I don't really need but I thought it would be nice ... turns out it also has atomic capabilities ... it says when you plug it in it automatically gets the time and date and it has a back up battery if the power goes out ...

so  woooohoooooo I found the clock I was getting ... now the trick was trying to get up off the floor in the store without causing a scene ...

::: unfortunately you once again have an image of a very ungraceful very pregnant woman trying to get up off the floor ... this one might be harder to get out of your mind :::

Well true to the boxes word as soon as David plugged it in (I was about to get on the floor again) it picked up the time ... turns out you can have the projection be red, blue or green ... I chose blue ... well in all the years I have worn glasses this is the first clock I can see the time without my glasses on ... it projects big enough on the ceiling that I could read it each of the 4 times I got up to go to the bathroom last night ... and even better the display is big enough that I can read it without glasses ... it is amazing ... the snooze worked perfectly this morning and it has a very nice buzzer ... it is all just fantastic ... I couldn't be more happy with my purchase ... I'm in love ...

So I guess all in all having to get something new ... even if you resist the idea at first ... can turn out to be a VERY good thing in the end ...

Ginger Snaps

I have become obsessed with Ginger Snaps ... I can't get enough of them ... currently I have them on the other side of my desk so that I have to roll over there to get them ... otherwise my little baggy that I bought today would already be gone ...

I'm starting to be sorry that when I spotted them at the store on Saturday I didn't buy more than one box ... even Curly Top is digging them ... :)

Squeaky Green

While at Target the other day I was in the baby aisle looking for some cream for Curly Top ... we've had some we like but nothing we love ... she has such sensitive skin that when she breaks out in a rash it lasts for a while no matter what we do ...

I've always been a fan of Method products ... I've gotten lots of different items at Target ... I love their liquid soap ... shower cleaner ... so I thought why not give this a try ... instead of a toothpaste type tube it comes in a pump which I thought was a great idea ... so much cleaner and I'd be able to get every drop out ... plus it will stand up on the changing table ...

Well let me tell you ... this stuff is AMAZING ... I've never used anything that cleared up her diaper rash soooooo fast ... it is just awesome awesome awesome ... and the pump style works just as well as I thought it would ... there really isn't enough good stuff I can say about this product ...

So I was checking out the Method site tonight ... they just redid the whole thing and unfortunately a lot of it still isn't working right now ... but their blog is working and while checking out the blog I saw a product they love ... that I am thinking of checking out now too ... they are called G Diapers ... they have a cloth cover and the inserts - the diaper part - are flushable ... or can go in a compost pile or be thrown away ... they are plastic free so if they go in the toilet there are valuable nutrients that can be recovered and turned into biosolids ... which are then used for fertilizer ... if they are thrown away they will biodegrade in 90 days in a landfill as opposed to 500ish years for a regular disposable diaper ... or you can even use them in your own compost pile ... I think they sounds just fabulous ... and they are totally cute ... I'm wondering now if I should go ahead and try them on Curly Top or just plan on using them with the next kid since really Curly Top should be using the toilet ...

Our Current Favorite Book

Now we still read "Alice the Fairy" ... "Olivia Saves The Circus" ... and "Fancy Nancy" every night ... but Curly Top's current favorite book is "Good Night Washington DC" ... and they have them for a whole bunch of different states and places ... they are the cutest ...

Goodnight Washington DC

We read it twice before bed every night and the last several mornings she wakes up before I leave for work (this used to never happen ... it is nice for me because I love getting to see her before I leave for work) ... as soon as she sees me in the doorway she whispers "read ... read ... read" ... and grabs Good Night Washington DC ... and on the last page when it says, "Thank you for sharing such a wonderful day" she whispers "yeeeaaaaaaa" ... it is just precious ...

I am so happy she is getting into reading ... I will admit for a little while there I was worried ... she wasn't like other kids I knew ... even as an infant she showed no interest in books ... as a little baby if you tried to read a book she would kick ... try and roll over (probably why she figured out how to) ... if you were holding her she just tried to squirm away ... I thought she would never have a love for reading like I did ... as an infant all she wanted to do was listen to music ... she could do that for hours ... and she seemed remarkable content if she could hear M*A*S*H on ... that seemed to quiet her right down ...

So the fact that she asks to read a lot now makes me so happy ... because it was something so special to me as a kid and I had hoped she would love to read too ...

Recently she has been taking her napkin at meals and holding it saying "book to read" ... so when I ask her to tell me a story she points along just as if she is reading it to me ...

Some days I wish there could be a camera on her all the time ... she is just a trip ...

Baggu

Today I got my Baggu Bags and I am oh so excited ... I used to be awesome about using canvas bags when I went shopping ... but with carting a kid and all that comes along with her and having a handful of different size bulky bags I just gave up on them ... them I came across these Baggu Bags and from the site I was sold ... they fold up in a pouch ... they aren't expensive ... totally easy to keep one in my purse for quick errands ... and they have a draw string pouch that will hold 10 of them ... they are just perfect ... I am just so so so excited to have found these ... they are great!!!!
