So we got this amazing tree from Pottery Barn Kids ... it is called a wallie ... it is kinda like wallpaper ... you submerge it in water and then stick it to the wall ... it sticks as it dries ... and it came out beautiful ... we debated getting more than one but I think the one is enough ... there is going to be a lot going on in the room ...

The beautiful crib
We have had the crib since January but we finally set it up and it is just beautiful ... we had picked out a crib but then once we were in the store David saw this one and that was it ... it was the one we were getting ... it converts into a toddler bed and then into a full size bed ... so it will be around for a while ... we ordered a dresser too but it won't be here until right before the baby ...

Testing out our pickets
So we got to thinking ... the wood pickets are huge ... and would come into the room a lot and it would take a lot to attach them to the wall ... plus we would have to paint all of them ... and they are made to be an outside fence so they are pressure treated and we weren't sure about putting formaldehyde in a baby's room ...
We talked about painting them on the wall ... which in talks we decided it would take quite some time to paint ... and the design at the top would be hard to replicate with smooth lines without a template ... talks of templates proved futile ...
Then while talking to my dad he suggested using wood slats from blinds ... no chemical treatment, already white and much much thinner than the pickets we had purchased ... I told him it was worth a try ...
while walking through the warehouse he also grabbed some vertical blind slats and sent them down to me ... those were PERFECT ... they even have a texture that makes them appear to be wood ... the samples that I cut out turned out awesome ... we figured out how many we needed and he sent them down ... then it was my job to draw the top design and cut them out ... they look absolutely amazing ... and much better than the real wood ...

Starting the baby's room
After what felt like a lot of procrastination we finally started working on the baby's room ... and we have big ideas for this room ... it is going to have a garden theme with flowers and butterflies and bees and ladybugs and clouds ... and a picket fence ... we bought real wood pickets to mount all around the room ... after we paint them white they will be ready to hang ...
So we have so far painted the "grass" and the "sky" ... the colors we picked out turned out better than we had imagined ... they are both Behr paints (the only kind we use) and the sky is called "Nevada Sky" ... and the grass color is called "Caterpillar" ...
